About Us

Welcome to Dental Care of Port Jervis, a trusted part of the Port Jervis community for over 30 years. Initially working alongside Dr. Colin Johnston since 1998, Dr. Sonia Lee now continues to serve the community in a solo practice.

Dr. Sonia Lee's journey into dentistry began with a strong interest in the medical field. Raised in Flushing, Queens, she volunteered at Booth Memorial Hospital during her junior high years then was accepted into the prestigious Townsend Harris High School at Queens College. The Townsend Harris offered a summer internship program where she met her mentor Dr. Sydney Silverman, a former alumnus and prosthodontics chairman at New York University Dental School, sparking her love for dentistry.

After high school, Dr. Lee was accepted into a seven-year dental program at New York University Dental School. Throughout her dental school years, she continued to collaborate with Dr. Silverman and worked as an EMT in her spare time. Following dental school, she completed a one-year residency at Long Island College Hospital.

Dr. Lee's commitment to learning didn't stop there. She regularly attends dental seminars and study clubs, even pursuing advanced education at the Dawson Academy for TMJ and full mouth rehabilitation. Her thirst for knowledge aligns with her love of travel and immersion in different cultures, which she incorporates into her ongoing dental education.

A long-time resident of the area, Dr. Lee currently resides in the western Catskills with her husband. She's not only passionate about her husband and dentistry but is also devoted to her hairless cat, Karma!
